get the Oyster card and get the travelcard loaded onto it ... you can have a travelcard on the Oyster as well as some extra credit in case you want to make other journeys ... it's always cheaper to buy a travelcard (e.g. for a week, month, or even a year) rather than the daily rate ... if you're going to be working in London for work, a lot of companies will give you a loan to buy an annual travel card and then deduct it monthly from your pay
