Can exposed electrical wire kill you?

what if a buy is working n he is all around him ... and there is a specific ares from which the wire is exposed if he touches it .. will he die n he is on a carpeted floor ... n its hard to leave the wire or impossible bcz its around him .... will he be just socked or he will die
