The changeing of the guard-the police to u2?

i like most music,mostly rock an roll, and i once read that the police, in their final concert,had u2 come on stage an they gave them their instruments. my q is if this was true? an when and where did this take place. i would be so cool an a definite rock and roll kodak moment.
