Do you let Puppy Chow cool?

I know how to make the dessert puppy chow (chex, chocolate and peanut er) my question is are you supposed to let it cool in the fridge at any point? If so, when? I ask this because I am making it for my friends at school but my school is four hours away in ATL so I dont want it to be nasty once I get down there.
