Half up Half down hairstyle for short hair?

Its my 21st party next saturday and i have hair which is shorter at the back and longer at the front. the style of my dress is a halter neck which means I would have to get it put half up half down, but im really struggling for ideas and think its going to be a disaster, could any1 help me out by telling me what i could do with it because of the length, or even picutres would be fab!!! thanx!!!
